SODIUM-FREE (SALT-FREE) SOFT WATER IS NOW POSSIBLE! Until recently, a major objection to water softeners was the sodium they added to the water. Now, potassium chloride salt substitute is widely available. Instead of exchanging hardness for sodium (which most people get too much of in their diets), it exchanges it for more healthful POTASSIUM (which most people don't get enough of). Fruits and vegetables are naturally high in potassium. It also exchanges most naturally occurring sodium in your water for potassium. People trying to watch their sodium intake can now have the benefits of a water softener, and drink SODIUM-FREE / SALT-FREE soft water! Click HERE for an article on how potassium can help lower blood pressure.
Learn more about potassium chloride water softener salt substitute at these web sites: Softouch/Morton Salt , K-Life/Nature's Own or Cargill/Diamond Crystal. Potassium chloride water softener salt substitute is available in most areas at many hardware stores, home improvement centers, or grocery stores. Ace Hardware carries the Diamond Crystal sodium-free brand - you can order online and have it delivered to your local store if they don't normally carry it. Other home-improvement stores may carry it under private label as well - just ask for their "sodium-free" or "potassium" softener salt. Our softeners require no adjustments when using potassium chloride, and you can switch to it at any time.
Don't be fooled by the "No Salt Water Conditioner" products using magnets, coils, catalytic anodes, etc. - they don't work and they rely on "testimonies" for support! Go HERE to read a good article. Also, see the link button on the left column.
TOP QUALITY WATER SOFTENERS AT DOWN-TO-EARTH PRICES! Our water softeners are assembled from top-quality components from respected industry-leading suppliers: GE Osmonics/Autotrol water softener valves, Structural Fibers mineral tanks, Clack brine tanks, and Purolite water softener resin. We drop ship our water softeners direct from the OEM Assembler, allowing us to sell them at down-to-earth factory-direct prices - UP TO 40% OFF LIST PRICE. Prices start at only $799! There are no "hidden" costs - shipping is FREE on any water softener shipped anywhere in the continental U.S.!!
You can save HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS (sometimes THOUSANDS!) over the "Big Guys" prices with NO sacrifice in quality! Why pay for their high overhead (sales people, telemarketers, franchise fees, national ads) and inflated prices when you don't need to?
And our water softener is a FAR SUPERIOR product compared to the water softeners sold at "Mass Merchandisers" at a comparable price! For example, the internal porting on a "Mass Merchandiser" valve is only 1/2", thus restricting flow and reducing pressure (11 psi pressure drop @ 8 gpm). Our Autotrol valve uses true 3/4" (255 series) and 1" (268 series) internal porting for full, unrestricted flow (only 2.25 and 1 psi pressure drop @ 8 gpm, respectively). The OTHER PROBLEM with these "Mass Merchandising" water softeners is the control valve. They have a "rotor disc" assembly, which is a friction plate design - essentially two discs that turn against each other (much like a clutch on a car) -prone to failure due to friction and abrasion. These water softener systems simply do not hold up in most areas because the rotor discs are easily scratched or etched from sediment in the water supply (sand, grit, scale from the city water main). These water softener valves require frequent service and re-building, but the Autotrol provides MANY years of trouble-free service!
And don't be "bamboozled" by the "non-electric" softeners out there (usually selling for over $2,000!). The Autotrol valve is extremely energy-efficient - it uses only about $2.00 of electricity per year! Be sure and read our "How Water Softeners Work" page to see other design differences! CHLORINE-FREE SOFT WATER! Take your water softener to the "next level"! Add a KDF MediaGuard to your water softener! Add the KDF-55 MediaGuard to remove the taste and odor of chlorine, and heavy metals. Add the KDF-85 MediaGuard to remove up to 1 ppm iron and hydrogen sulfide! Click HERE for more information!
HELP WITH PIPE SIZE: To determine which softener valve is appropriate for your home (the 3/4" 255 or the 1" 268), you will need to determine your incoming pipe size (on private wells, this would be AFTER the pressure tank). As a rule of thumb, most homes up to 2 1/2 baths have 3/4" plumbing, 3+ have 1". Copper, CPVC, PEX, PB Pipe: 3/4" pipe size actually measures 7/8" outside diameter (about 2.75" circumference). 1" pipe size actually measures 1 1/8" outside diameter (about 3.5" circumference).
PVC Pipe: 3/4" pipe size
actually measures 1.05" outside diameter (about 3.3" circumference). 1" pipe
size actually measures 1.315" outside diameter (4.13" circumference).
